Circuit Riders & Councils of Government
Most Oneida County cities, towns, and villages belong to one of three councils of governments (COGs). Each is served by one or more "circuit riders" who help bridge communication between communities and help individual municipalities take advantage of a more regional perspective. Circuit riders also help communities identify problems and find the appropriate assistance for land use planning, funding, community improvements, technical assistance, and training opportunities for local officials.
Membership in a Council of Government offers the financial benefit of sharing services, provides a supported position on issues, and imparts technical resources.
